How To Maintain Your Dolphin Robot Pool Cleaner
Dolphin pool cleaners are among the first robotic pool cleaners to appear on the market. They are also among the best selling – even today, 25 years after first debuting into the minds of pool owners world wide. The Dolphin pool cleaner is an effective way to have your pools cleaned effectively, economically and thoroughly.
Add to this the point that your Dolphin pool cleaner can save you as much as 30% on your chemical supplies costs due to its ability to maintain the cleanliness and usability of your pool for longer stretches of time. However, the funny question is who is going to maintain the maintainer.
The answer to that question is you. While the Dolphin pool cleaner is a low maintenance pool cleaner, you will still have to pay attention to it a bit or it could conk out. Even if it is warranteed for a year on parts and services, and 24 months for motor repairs, taking care of your Dolphin should still be high on your priority list. Here are some tips on keeping your Dolphin pool cleaner happy.
1. Make sure the cables for the pool cleaner do not twist up. If there are obstruction in the line of path your pool cleaner must take, the cable could snag, coil up, or tangle. This is especially true if the pool has very uneven or protruding appliances from the walls. Drains, ladders and pipes could add to this problem. .Irregular shaped pools also have a tendency to add to this problem as well.
The best way to avoid and remedy this is to adjust the Dolphin pool cleaner so whenever it hits a snag, or uncoil the cable when the problem presents itself. Just make sure you either turn it off before doing this or make sure there is no hazard for further coiling or mechanical malfunction when you do this.
2. Replace the filter bag regularly. The filter bag – a handy contraption at that – should be replaced when it gets too heavy due to the filtrates. You will notice that your Dolphin’s filter bag is full when it has difficulty crawling around and up the pool walls.
You should then empty and wash out the filter bag. When the filter bag gets beat up, or when you notice the fibers of the bag giving out or bunching together, you may want to replace the bag altogether.
3. Clean the Dolphin. While you do not have to clean the Dolphin often, you still have to give it a good looking when you have the opportunity. Sometimes large debris get caught in the impeller of the Dolphin. Sometimes, the debris gets stuck on the external mechanical parts.
With your Dolphin turned off, remove these debris. However, do not attempt to unscrew and open the Dolphin. Leave this kind of maintenance to professionals. Remember that this is an electrical device that has lots of exposure to water. You don’t want to turn the Dolphin into an electrical risk.
4. Check the cables for breaks. The cables for the Dolphin should be checked regularly for breaks and tears. These cables are thickly insulated. But even so, you will still want to make sure that they were not inadvertently cut into. Also, keep these cables properly stored and coiled when not in use.
