Gold Jewelry Versus Silver Jewelry
Almost everyone has a preference as to whether they like gold or silver better, and some people also choose a color based on what else they are wearing or their skin tone, which can make a piece of jewelry look better on one person than it will on another. For rings, the size of a person’s hand also affects what looks best on them because large rings on small fingers often look gaudy or fake. When deciding between silver and gold jewelry, however, the choice almost entirely involves the simple aspect of what the individual likes the best. Not everyone likes the way that gold jewelry looks, and some people are actually allergic to it, but that is very, very unlikely. Usually, it is just a matter of personal preference that determines whether or not someone likes or wears gold jewelry of any kind.
Almost Everyone Likes Gold Jewelry
Most people prefer, or at least like, gold jewelry, and this is evidenced by how much gold jewelry is seen in jewelry stores, department stores, Internet stores, the newspaper, and other places. Some of this jewelry, however, is only ‘gold-tone’ or gold-plated’ and the gold color will soon wear off. This is generally the case with costume jewelry, which is usually made with an inexpensive metal such as nickel and then plated with gold. This is the kind of jewelry that will begin to tarnish and turn an individual green where the jewelry contacts skin in just a few days of constant wear, but it still remains popular for costume jewelry because it is very inexpensive and looks like gold jewelry for a while at least.
‘Gold’ Can Come In Different Colors
Lately, there have been some changes made in the way that gold jewelry looks. White gold jewelry has seen more popularity in recent years because individuals are finding that they like the way that it looks, which is very similar to silver but yet not quite the same. In addition to white gold jewelry, there are other forms of gold jewelry that are not as popular but that are still seen. One of these is a tri-colored style of gold jewelry that was very popular in the 1990s but that has not been as popular in recent years, for reasons that are basically unclear. Despite the fact that the popularity of this type of gold has waned, it can still be found and there are still people that enjoy its beauty and the uniqueness that it has to offer.
